Corporate History
Robertson Worldwide, previously known as Robertson Transformer Company is the largest manufacturer of compact fluorescent and specialty ballasts in the USA. In addition to the general lighting market, Robertson offers a complete line of electronic and electromagnetic products for a myriad of applications including germicidal ultraviolet, medical equipment, aquariums, home appliances, gaming and vending machines.
Robert Irwin Robertson founded the company in 1948 under the name of Palos Products Company. Early production was done in his home but after several years of steady growth, Robertson expanded his operation into two rented garages. Soon the business was too large for that location and in 1954, Mr. Robertson moved to the present facility on Thornton Road in Blue Island, Illinois.
Robertson Worldwide currently has 70,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehousing and office facilities in Blue Island. The company has sales offices throughout the United States and Canada. Robertson also has manufacturing facilities in China.
Robertson Worldwide has a complete Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certified laboratory that is equipped to run all temperature and electrical test required for product listing. Robertson also provides fixture testing services for many of its original equipment manufacturer customers.
In 1998, the company was renamed Robertson Worldwide. The new name exemplifies the company's commitment to provide innovative lighting solutions to a global market. Although the name has changed slightly Robertson still prides itself on customer service, exceptional quality and a willingness to develop products for those unique applications.
For the past 59 years Robertson has proudly designed and produced high quality ballasts and transformers for lighting. Our defective return rate of less than 500 parts per million for magnetic products and less than 1000 parts per million for electronic product; one of the lowest in the industry.
